If you have daughters then you probably have a little girl interested in fashion, clothes, and maybe even beauty products. The problem is that many of the beauty products on the market contain harmful chemicals that we moms really do not want to expose our children to at young ages. Take nail polish for example, my husband hates the smell of it so we have usually done our nails on very special occasions and outside while he is at work. At least until we learned of safer products with less odor. More recently we found an even better solution that does not even require nail polish remover – Piggy Paints.
The Piggy Paints Story
Melanie Hurley, Piggy Paints creator, has a great story to tell! She’s a mom who has successfully changed the way a common product used for children is made. After watching nail polish eat through a foam plate when she was painting her daughters nails, she began to worry each time she saw them put their fingers in their mouths.
She then created eco-friendly, odorless, toxin free, Piggy Paints-safe nail polishes for girls and teens and women. Melanie could offer tips for other parents and tell more about what drove her to quit her job as an elementary school teacher to start her own business- driven by the realization that little girls deserve safe, toxin free products.
Our Review
We received two bottles of Piggy Paints, one turqouise blue, the other pink. They are are odorless and come off easily with hand washing or a bath. For longer wear just apply the recommended three coats, we have just been putting on one coat and letting the girls re-do their nails once it has worn/washed off.
Our girls really like Piggy Paints as they can apply it themselves, whereas with the chemical version, usually my oldest daughter or I would put it on for them because I did not want them handling it.
We give Piggy Paints two thumbs up!
Oh and I just learned that Piggy Paints has come out with an adult version that is safe to use during pregnancy! Yay! Thank you, Melanie!
