Once again we are privileged to review a neat children’s book! This book is titled Mabel McNabb and the Most Boring Day Ever. This was a very good book; all of my children (2,5, and 7) were captured by the story line! Although I did read the book to my children this is more along the reading level of my 7 year old because there is more text and paragraphs to read where the little ones would find the amount of words too cumbersome to try and read.
The story line follows Mabel in her adventures. Mabel finds herself with nothing to do one summer day, and thusly gets herself into some trouble…I will not divulge the epic points of the book because it is very cute and I will let you read it yourself…but basically the story follows Mable and her run in with some peaches and the neighbor lady! In the end Mabel’s day turns out to be pretty good and she even gets a nice surprise at the end of the story! This is a book that I would definitely run out and buy for my children…it was very cute. Author Amy Jones has certainly captured the spirit of a little girl in the character of Mabel. There are also cute illustrations, artistically crafted by Mike Curato. Mike has used wonderful muted colors to capture the novelty that is Mabel!
Our family liked that Mabel is a typical 6 year old…and that her entertainment is devoid of TV and other electronic media! This was a nice refreshing book that shows a little girl playing outside and being a child!
