We all know that Americans (and some of us Canadians, yep that includes yours truly) are pizza lovers. As I have stated before our family tends to be pizza connoisseurs, so that being said, we rarely turn down pizza. The problem with FRESCHETTA® By the Slice is that a slice does not feed our family of ten! Therefore, we would not buy it under normal circumstances because my husband and sons could eat a whole pizza by themselves. The boys are not even teens yet!

When my husband took the coupon to work so he could have the slice of pizza for his lunch, he could not find it at the local stores near his work, which is in a town of 40,000 people. He checked three different places. So even though Freschetta may have a store locator, it will vary store to store as to the availability of these individual slices of pizza that come in these flavors: BBQ Recipe Chicken, Vegetable Medley, Chicken, Spinach & Mushroom and Six Cheese Medley.

Also, when my husband finally found the product the store did not carry a kind that he likes (cheese in the case of Freschetta’s flavor choices), so he brought me home the Vegetable Medley to eat.

I have to say that I was surprised and found it was very good, even though I had heartburn after the fact. Not something I usually experience with pizza or when I am not pregnant, so that was definitely weird.

We do not use/have a microwave so we baked the pizza in our regular oven and it does take a bit longer to cook and seemed like a waste of gas energy for an itty bitty piece of pizza.

The pizza itself had good flavor, nice texture and a semi-crunchy crust. The sauce was tasty and my dear husband had my oldest pick off the olives for me since I was working that evening. Spoiled, I know, but hey after 17 years of marriage I am allowed to be! 🙂 I even shared bites with my two younger sons who enjoyed their late evening treat with mommy.

My husband and I do not think that $2.00 for a slice of pizza was worth the price when you can get a whole frozen pizza on sale for $2-3 or a whole hot pizza for $5 at a notable pizza chain, which my husband can literally walk to from his work. But for smaller families on the go or for snacks for the freezers, I can see that it might work for some families.

Freschetta 6-Piece Container Set

The Freschetta 6-piece container set is nice. The containers are on the small side, but great for leftovers, for a husband’s lunch or  baby food storage. They are comparable to other brands and are holding up pretty well in the short time that we have had them. I cannot testify to their durability long-term though unfortunately.
