Summer has yet to officially arrive here in the Chicago area, although we have seen a day or two in the high 80’s. It has been cold, wet and rainy, much like many other parts of the country. However, I was recently inspired with ideas for my summer wardrobe while reading the latest edition of The Oprah Magazine “O”. In the O, Etc. section there was a piece called “Great Lengths” and in it Brooke Kosofsky Glassberg featured some cute summer skirts. That’s the inspiration behind this post….
If you like staying cool in the summer by wearing skirts, then perhaps some of these will tickle your fashion fancy. They are bright, stylish and affordable for most budgets. I have them listed from least to most expensive.
For budget minded shoppers, I went to Target.com and found that they had a number of nice skirts available for the upcoming warm weather. I was rather surprised by their selection actually. Most of them are solid colors and quite a few are longer in length.
Calypso St. Barth for Target (Retail $34.99)
Garnet Hill is a step up in budget and offers petite and regular sized skirts! Love that since I need the “short” size. Garnet Hill offers a better selection as far as patterns and bright colors. Their skirts are more flowing and look summery.
Silk Tired Skirt from Garnet Hill (Retail $88.00)
Ann Taylor offers a wide selection of professional skirts and has more choices as far as shorter skirts go. Right now they have a 40% off sale going on with the code: EXTRA40.
Silk Habotai Maxi Skirt from Ann Taylor (Retail $148)
Summer is a great time to freshen up your wardrobe with lightweight skirts to stay cool. Oprah’s magazine include several more skirts, this was just a small sampling.
