Relationships are important in any family and even more so as our children start hitting puberty (pre-teen and teen years). They seem to need us more. We are entering a new phase of our lives as our older girls get into their teens and the topic of dating (or courtship depending upon where you are in the “dating” spectrum) comes up – along with it questions. That is why I decided to review Rebecca St. James new book, What Is He Thinking.
My interest was to get “current” with today’s view of “dating” (as I have been out of the dating world for over 17 years). I also wanted to hear what guys are thinking. We have respected Rebecca’s long stand on remaining pure until marriage. It is so rare, but as you read What Is He Thinking you will find that it is not as rare as you may have thought.
While I don’t agree with all of Rebecca’s views, as each family/individual will be different, I did enjoy her personal stories and interviews with guys between 20 and 35 – single and married guys. The girls got to ask questions that the guys responded to during the interviews.
I can’t say that she revealed anything that I did not already know, but I was very pleased to see so many guys committed to purity until marriage, as well as their love for femininity and modesty. It was refreshing and renewed my hope that there are good guys out there waiting for the good girls. 😉
The only negative I really have to say is that the information presented in the book is rather choppy at best, at least to me, but the positives about What Is He Thinking far outweighs that one bad thing.
This new book was a fresh look at the “new” dating and is geared towards those looking for love and purity. I think our girls will learn a lot from it. It gets a thumbs up from me!
