Spring is allergy season and all of us moms are busy preparing for the onslaught of  running noses, red eyes, and crying wee ones. It’s easy to prescribe medication and sometimes that is completely needed. Especially for the kids with severe allergies.
In between the allergies you also have spring colds. Which are a mom’s worst nightmare with baseball and t-ball season starting as well as at classes and horseback riding.
At the same time using natural remedies along with allergy medicine is a great way to combat the nasty bugs that are going to attack your wee ones this year. Here are a few of my favorite natural remedies to try this April.
Ban sore throats with honey and lemon Water- For kids over the age of one take a cup of hot water, 1 TBSP lemon juice, and a dab of honey. Mix it all together and serve. Kids will love the sweet taste of the drink and gobble it up. As a mom, I love feeling safe about what I’m giving my children. I also love the results that the honey lemon water gives.
Lavender water- Lavender essential oil mixed with water and put in a spray bottle will provide instant relief. Mist it around the bedroom of your child and around your house for not only a sweet aroma, but instant relief against headaches, red eyes, and allergies.
Herbal tea- Non-caffeinated herbal tea mixed with honey and milk is the perfect remedy for ill children. Just be sure that the tea is natural and not synthetic.
A hug from mom- And there is nothing better than a hug from mom to make any child feel better when they are under the weather.
What are your favorite natural ideas to combat allergies and colds?

I love lavender on my sheets when I have a hard time sleeping…it’s so relaxing. Never thought about using it on the kiddos beds.

Great tips, I also heard that you should get ‘local honey’ and take a teaspoon a day to help build up your system for ‘local’ allergens… great posts..

A hug from mom for sure! 🙂 We do the honey water and herbal tea, but have never tried lavender water. I’ll have to give that a shot too!
