Public breastfeeding is something that is generally looked down upon by almost everyone inside society. Instead of being seen as a natural, nurturing act, it’s seen as something perverted and wrong.
Mothers are constantly being oppressed and forced to feed their babies in dirty bathroom stalls or even hide in their car just to avoid confrontation. However, two students are setting about to change this by creating a campaign entitled “When Nurture Calls”.
Kris Haro and Johnathan Wenske want to create a society where mothers don’t have to live in fear of breastfeeding. Their posters, designed to arouse questions about the ethicality of forcing mothers to breastfeed their babies in public bathrooms, are helping to raise awareness for a worthy cause.
But that isn’t the only thing that they’re doing. Their campaign is also focusing on changing breasfeeding laws. While United States laws allow breastfeeding, they do not protect breastfeeding mothers from harassment or being forced to leave a business. The When Nuture Calls campaign wants to change this. After all, what’s the point of having the right to breastfeed when you aren’t even protected under it?
