Whether you realize it or not, you are very much like a First Lady or a duchess if you want to look your best wherever you go.
I suppose the majority of us will never have to think about dressing for royalty. But just imagine if you had such an opportunity, what would you wear? According to fashion news, Michelle Obama made some fashion faux pas in 2009 when she and the President visited the Queen of England. However, their 2011 trip to England has fashion watchers impressed. Here is an elegant white dress she wore a few nights ago at Buckingham Palace before the state banquet, which she attended with the President:
I’d say fitting for a queen.
You may see other dresses the First Lady wore while socializing with the royals. She even wore complimenting outfits to the Queen on some outings, which they say may or may not have been planned.
There was another fashion blazer being watched during the Obamas visit with the royals, Kate Middleton, now the Duchess of Cambridge.
Kate Betts, author of “Everyday Icon: Michelle Obama and the Power of Style”, made this statement in an AP article about the new Duchess and her dress yesterday on Yahoo:
There was another fashion plate at Buckingham Palace as well: The new Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, wore a sand-colored dress by the British label Reiss. Her appearance sparked such a rush in demand for the above-the-knee sheath, with a retail price of $340, that the retailer’s website traffic increased by more than 300 percent, resulting in several crashes throughout the day, according to the company.
The dress was sophisticated and chic, if not a bit understated, but the duchess put her own twist on the outfit with her black pointy-toe pumps and black satin clutch handbag by Anya Hindmarch. The bag was engraved with her initials.
The 29-year-old newlywed “looks her age. I was afraid the minute she got in the royal family, she’d be wearing clothes that were too formal. I like that there’s no coat or suit,” said Kate Betts….
Would your choice of outfits influence dress shop sales or website traffic by 300% like Kate’s or Michelle Obama’s? Hmmmm….I don’t know about you, but I’m not convinced mine my style of fashion would. If you are confident yours would, please share your ideas with all of us.
